                                           ABOUT THE GROUP

“Ladies To Dine For” was originally a part of the Canary Wharf Gay and Lesbian Association (CWGLA), a social group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered  people, which was open to anyone who lived in, worked in or just wanted to pop into the Canary Wharf area of  London. CWGLA was founded in 1999 by Andy Heath-Richardson, a senior project manager with Canary Wharf Contractors. For many years, CWGLA met on a fortnightly basis. However, with huge improvements in attitudes towards homosexuality in the business environment over the years, Andy decided to move on to other things, and CWGLA no longer meets.

“Ladies to Dine For” was set up in August 2006 as a CWGLA Ladies night, by Ali Bell (a co-chairperson of CWGLA at the time), assisted by Iona, with the aim of attracting more women to CWGLA. When CWGLA closed down in autumn 2007, “Ladies to Dine For” continued as an independent group. In September 2007, the running of “Ladies to Dine For” was taken over by Alison Aird, who set up a dedicated website for the group, and who continues to organise the monthly socials. “Ladies to Dine For” has now grown to over 100 members, with typically around 10-15 women attending each monthly social.

”Ladies to Dine For” is a monthly event where people can get together in a relaxed environment and chat over food. Its also fine just to join us for a drink, if you prefer. The group is friendly and welcoming, open to all, and has no entrance fee or dress code. If it’s your first time, and you would like to be met before joining the rest of the group at the venue, then this can easily be arranged by contacting Alison via the “contact us” section of the website.
